The Association meets on the 2nd Wed monthly at the Community Hall, McDowall St, Middleton and all Residents & Ratepayers are welcome to attend. Starting at 7.30pm in the summer and 7pm in the winter.
The Association was formed in 1975 and it’s charter, as stated in it’s Constitution is
“The co-ordination of projects and activities of benefit to the South Channel community and to provide a forum for the discussion of matters of community interest.
SCRRA has been responsible for many community achievements through the years - among others are the erection and dedication of the Bushfire Memorial at the corner of Beach Rd and the Channel highway, BBQ enclosure for the Tennis court which is available free for community use, a History walk which enables visitors to walk a path of 10 sites marked by pedestal indicators showing pictures and history of that site with direction brochures available free from the local store, improvements to the Gordon Reserve, improved placement of picnic tables and camping sites in that area. Full assistance is given the local volunteer fire brigade.
SCRRA has an excellent relationship with the Kingborough Council and this close liaison results in many things being achieved which often go undetected by the general public. Currently development is under way for a kitchen upgrade to kitchen status in the community hall and a new disabled toilet facility in the grounds.

This event alone depends on the generous assistance of many, many, people who volunteer their time and skills both on the day and for months in advance to ensure the smooth running of the event.
A sub-committee of SCRRA is the South Channel Social Group whose function to hold functions for of a social nature for the enjoyment of members and their friends and to welcome new arrivals to the area.
